Very charming – charismatic
Restless with ambitions but no brain or imagination to pursue anything in particular – just large vague dreams of striking it rich
done a bit of everything to try and get rich
met fiona in a pub – drawn to her down to earth spirit – he though she could ground him (fix him 🙄)
struggled with commitment, was somewhat hot and cold with Fiona but eventually/half-heartedly proposed to her when she became pregnant with Jamie

He resented Jamie because he wasn’t the son he wanted – he wanted a loud LADLADLAD son but Jamie was too reserved – he often told Jamie he was a disappointment
Mark was considering leaving but Fiona became pregnant with Grace so he stayed. Grace was his perfect little princess and the only reason he stayed an extra 6 years.
But the feeling that there was something else out there for him nagged at him so he made up a fake business trip (not uncommon for him) and left.
He rang Fiona and the kids twice in 2 months excitedly giving them fake updates before ghosting completely.
